City bikes are for urban use, allow for a comfortable riding position, and often have an attractive design.
They are equipped with good lighting (actually mandatory), a chain guard/fender to protect clothes, and sometimes a luggage rack.
City bikes almost always have 26 ″ or 28 ″ wheels with intermediate covers, neither too smooth as for racing bikes nor knobbly as for mountain bikes.
